September 7th, 2015 The RUN is 17 out of 17 Weeks
Waist high or better, at least once a week. There were waist high waves on Friday morning and Saturday morning.

The 23rd SURF FAMILY ROBINSON and the long awaited
Labor Day Weekend.

The faithful readers of the blog know that rare is the day that I miss my deadline for posting. This year was a bit taxing for me. So I took advantage of the holiday and actually spent the better part of it with my wife Cory and my granddaughter Avery on our beach.

I'm now aware of what normal people do on the weekends. That's right. Normal people. Like you. I am usually hunkered down in the bunker from Friday to Sunday working on the blog. Do you realize that I posted 1,600 pics last week? Are you shitting yourself Ralph or what? Damn. That's a lot of pics.

No wonder I get burned out from time to time. And even though it's a labor of love. It is still laborious. So I figured, if there's one day I can take off. It's this day. LABOR DAY.

So once a year. Ralphie takes a day off and enjoys life. Just like
everyone else. Get used to it.

Speaking of labor. Yikes this year was the 23rd anniversary for our local SURF FAMILY ROBINSON beach party. Twenty three years of fighting pirates and leading small children through a treacherous course to find buried treasure.

People have asked me why I still do it, seeing how my kids are grown and in their 20's and have moved way past the SFR day.

Look there are new kids who have come to believe in the magic of SFR, and they want to celebrate with their parents the last Beach party of the year. And really what better way for young groms to end their summer vacation than surfing, crab racing, treasure hunt, and watching a REAL pirate, with a REAL sword, almost take my head off. Think I'm joking? Ask any parent who is witness to this yearly beach battle.



A couple of the attractions for the young groms. Above and below.



I have to admit the Crab race is one of my favorite events.
The kids and their parents do everything possible to get their crabs moving. If a boy's crab wins, we cheer for the KING CRAB. If a girls' crab wins we cheer for the QUEEN crab.

And just so you all know, we release the Crabs right after the race.



This is the 23rd SFR. I figure I'll make a decision after Year 25. Not sure how long I can keep the stoke burning. Right now, I'm good. But ask me in two years.

One of my main SFR Captains. William Haffenreffer. Has been with me since the 3rd SFR. That's 20 years worth. I know, each year I can count on William, as well as a few others. Tony Berardini. Anthony and his big back hoe. There are many others too. Some who have come and gone, while others stay with me. I love them all.

And I could not do this without their help.



The next big event on the seacoast is the annual 9-11 GWOT re-dedication. This year thank God we are only adding one name. NAVY SEAL William Blake Marston. He will join two other NAVY SEALS on our monument. Three NAVY SEALS engraved in stone.



I was Commander for 13 years at POST 35. I stepped down last year. It was like having a full time job. It was time for me to move along.

There are a few surfers on our monument as well.

"Ed's Corner" pic this week is a shot from the 2013. It's Mother's Day. And the surfer is an unknown. Though we are all sure he had a mother. Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances
The most absurd story of the week was followed by the BEST story of the week. Early in the week NY Federal Judge Berman negated the four game suspension that Roger Goodell ruled on last season. No sooner was BRADY free and Patriots Nation singing and dancing in the streets when the NFL posted this NEW graphic fro SUPER BOWL 50. It has six of the ELITE QB's in the NFL in the graphic. They even have Peyton Manning twice! Missing is the four time Super bowl Champ QB and recipient of the MVP.
You have got to be shitting me? WHAT???


And before I write anymore here, please take a look for yourself. NO sign of Tom Brady. Well, because I am semi efficient at Photo shop, I decided to create my own promo for Super Bowl
50. What do you think?



The only thing this slight of hand by the NFL will accomplish is, the Patriots under Tom Brady this season, may very well end up in Super Bowl 50. And if they win? And Brady gets MVP? Roger Goodell should present the trophy on his knees and with his head bowed and his eyes averted away from Brady.

And to cap it all off. Brady should place his cleat on Goodell's head, and shove him off the stage.

The other absurd story is about this wack job. Kim Davis from Kentucky refused to issue marriage licenses to gay couples. Her reason is "It's against God's will." She was promptly thrown in jail. Where she sits today. Sorry Kim. It's your job to issue licenses to ALL couples. Straight, Bi, Gay, Interracial...etc. DO YOUR JOB!



KSM caught wind of this and he somehow convinced the authorities at GITMO to give him a weekly release program internship so he can fill in for Miss Davis while she is in jail.

Our favorite Terrorist Khaliddy "Sheik Yer Booty" Mohummed is
all over the KIM DAVIS doctrine. After all,Radical Islamic Muslims HATE gays. HATE THEM.

Please my friends, enjoy the weekly humiliation of the master mind behind the September 11th 2001 attacks. The man who was behind the killing of 3,000 innocent civilians. The number two big dog of AlQeada. Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

We called ourselves "Competition East." Even though NONE of us entered a surf contest. We did however make our own boards. I believe Jay is riding one of the boards we made. I can't really take credit for any of the craftsmanship, I can however take credit for keeping the laughter consistent during those sessions.
